DISCO S2E7 "Light and Shadows" Review By AnswerMan

Horrible:Meh:Adequate:Good:Fantastic

I'm honestly am not trying to just hate on this season of DISCO (even though I have decided to openly admit that I now like The Orville better), but man these filler episodes are killing me. Such a long, long, lead up to finally revealing Spock and... there's just no meat here. Honestly next to nothing happens in this episode except that we find out that Spock has Vulcan dyslexia, which is why the numbers that he endlessly is scrawling on the cave walls make no sense, until you look at them backwards. Which... is a myth. Dyslexia is a learning disability that is far more complex than just seeing letters and numbers in mirror image. I don't know why that bit bothered me, but it did.

But anyway, Michael finds out that Amanda is hiding Spock in a cave, and that Sarek doesn't know. But Sarek finds out, and he almost gets emotional as he states why Michael must reveal his location to Star Fleet; because she is obligated to and he doesn't want both of his children in trouble. Nice try, but you're still the worst father ever. But when Section 31 gets a hold of Spock, they want to extract his brain or whatever, and it's none other than Mirror Georgiou that gets him out of it. Then she tells that Section 31 officer that she knows that he is responsible for the death of Michael's parents, and so she is calling the shots now.

There's also a whole thing where a time rift happens and I guess Pike and Tyler bond over it. But no one cares, because it's all technobabble and adds nothing to the story.

So seven episodes in, and here's what we know about Spock so far:
1. He hasn't been shaving
2. He is catatonic
3. He has Vulcan Dyslexia
4. He's INNOCENT (based on no evidence)

Again, I am trying to still be positive about this season of DISCO, but "Light and Shadows" is just a big nothing burger. In fact, it's Horrible. The only things that are exciting about this episode are the hints it drops at what is coming. Now, on to Talos IV and learning more about that robot lady.
