Horrible:Meh:Adequate:Good:Fantastic
In this short trek, we get the origin story for Tribbles, and it's pretty hilarious. Edward is an extremely awkward and awful person who happens to be under Lynne Lucero's new command of the Cabot, a science vessel tasked with solving a food shortage crisis on a planet near Klingon space. Edward's idea is that Tribbles are delicious, and can be bred to reproduce quickly. Honestly that's not a bad idea, but I think he loses them when he suggests that he can breed them all with brain damage since they're not sure if they're intelligent or not. Words cannot describe how awful Edward is. He makes Barclay look like Don Juan.
After sending Star Fleet command some messages saying that Lucero is a terrible leader and "dumb," she relieves him of duty in a scene that is some great slap stick. But he goes ahead and mutates the tribbles anyway, apparently infusing them with his own DNA even, just to make things creepier. The rest, you already know. They take over the ship, and a planet, and make their way into Klingon space. Edward dies in a sea of Tribbles, and Lucero is forced to try what I have just said is impossible to do: put into words how awful Edward was and explain what happened to her superiors.
Importance level: None:Normal:Yellow Alert :Red Alert:Double Red Alert
ETA: I just saw the commercial at the end. I chuckled and said "alright" out loud. Very strange.
